About

Hello, I'm Alessandra Freitas

MuckRack page | Imdb page

I am an Emmy-winning, Pulitzer Prize–finalist journalist with a decade of experience reporting, writing and producing stories across the United States and around the world. As a reporter and writer for CNN International, I cover breaking news, global affairs and deeply reported features—from wars and natural disasters to immigration, international trade and politics. I regularly interview sources in English, Portuguese and Spanish, bringing a multilingual and cross-cultural perspective to stories with global significance.

My work spans digital, television and investigative journalism. I report live on U.S. and international affairs for CNN Brasil and previously served as an editorial producer at CNN, where I made critical editorial decisions, secured prominent guests and helped shape coverage of major news events. Earlier in my career, I contributed to ProPublica’s Pulitzer Prize–finalist investigation Lost Mothers, examining preventable maternal deaths in the United States.

Storytelling is at the heart of everything I do. I combine rigorous reporting and editorial judgment with multimedia expertise to create journalism that is accurate, compelling and accessible across platforms. My Emmy-winning project Finding Sanctuary, which centered communities too often overlooked by traditional news coverage, reflects my commitment to ambitious, visually rich and socially meaningful storytelling.
